Dogs.
Hairy, friendly dogs with wagging tails,
are great workers and friends for people.
In fact that’s why they are called ‘man’s best friend’.
For a long long time dogs have lived with humans.
And they have helped in many ways.
Dogs have lent a paw to farm work, hunting, security and even assisting people with disabilities.
Like guide dogs who help bind people.
They also great pals for people and families.
They love to play.
And fetch balls.
And go for long walks.
There are lot of different types of dogs.
These are called breeds.
Some example breeds include; the loyal Labrador, the tough English Bulldog, the fast Greyhound, the huge St Bernard, the excited Boxer, the hard working Border Collie and the wonderful Cocker Spaniel with big floppy ears.
Some dogs compete in dog shows.
And some can do tricks.
Dogs are very smart animals.
And they have much better hearing and sense of smell than people.

Elephants. What is something… that all elephants have?
That’s right, it’s a Trunk. But what exactly, is an Elephant’s Trunk?
It’s a very long nose.
So it’s great for smelling, just like your nose.
But it’s many other things for an Elephant.
It’s a Trumpet. or a Snorkel Or even… a straw for drinking.
It’s an arm to hug other elephants.
Or a supporting hand, in case someone gets stuck in the mud.
Some Baby elephants even suck their trunks like a thumb.
So what else makes Elephants special? They are very big! The largest animal on land in fact. If an Elephant stood next to you, it would be roughly 3 times taller. So they need to eat lots of vegetation every day. And drink lots of water. More than 200 litres to be exact.
They also have large thin ears that they use to cool themselves down. And big tusks, to help dig for water.
Or use to scrape bark from trees. That’s yummy food for an Elephant.
Elephants are very friendly to each other too. The females and young stick together in a big family herd.
In the wild, Elephants live for a really long time, but they always have wrinkles! Wouldn’t it be great to see Elephants in the wild?!!

There are many types of sports which children can play. Skating, Fishing, Tennis, Horse Riding, Cycling, Cricket, Ice Hockey, Yoga etc.
So what can you do to start making a difference in your child’s life?
•Set a good example. If your children observe you being physically active, they are more likely to be active.
•Be active together as a family. Plan active outings such as a walking trip to a city attraction, hiking or biking through the river valley, playing sports with a friend’s family.
•Encourage your children to walk or bike to school. Go with your children to teach safety tips en route. Active physical programs are a fun option to keep them moving and motivated.
•Set limits on the amount of time your family spends watching TV and playing video games. Help your children discover fun physical activities that they will enjoy. Encourage your children to join a FUN and non-competitive sport or activity.
•Eat healthy avoid the “junk food” temptations. Children and adults need nutritionally rich food to provide the energy required to be active. Eating habits are learned, so teach your children healthy eating while they are young.
