Have you ever seen a Pig at a farm? They have funny pink nose and curly little tail. Their noses are very good at stiffing out food.

Pigs are Omnivores.That means they eat both meat and vegetables, like you and me. Don’t forget to eat your vegetables.

Pigs love to splash in the mud to cool down. But they are actually very clean.

Did you know Pig are very clever? They are even smarter than dogs.

Daddy Pigs are called Boars.Mummy Pigs are called Sows.And little pigs are called Piglets.

Pigs can come in different colours. These ones are black.

Where does the ZEBRA fit in the Animal Kingdom? Zebras are from… Africa.

They are covered with Black and White stripes, just like pianos.

Did you know? Every Zebra has a different pattern? It keeps them from being bitten by flies

They look just like horses. Can you see the difference? And like horses… Mummy Zebras are called MARES, Daddy Zebras are called STALLIONS and baby Zebras are called FOALS.

Zebras eat FRUIT, LEAVES, GRASS and ROOTS. Chomp!

And they graze in a big group, called a HERD. Zebra herds, roam on large grassy plains. They can run very fast.

Dogs.

Hairy, friendly dogs with wagging tails,

are great workers and friends for people.

In fact that’s why they are called ‘man’s best friend’.

For a long long time dogs have lived with humans.

And they have helped in many ways.

Dogs have lent a paw to farm work, hunting, security and even assisting people with disabilities.

Like guide dogs who help bind people.

They also great pals for people and families.

They love to play.

And fetch balls.

And go for long walks.

There are lot of different types of dogs.

These are called breeds.

Some example breeds include; the loyal Labrador, the tough English Bulldog, the fast Greyhound, the huge St Bernard, the excited Boxer, the hard working Border Collie and the wonderful Cocker Spaniel with big floppy ears.

Some dogs compete in dog shows.

And some can do tricks.

Dogs are very smart animals.

And they have much better hearing and sense of smell than people.

Snakes have no legs so they slide around on their bellies. That would be hard!

But it doesn’t slow snakes down. They are great climbers and swimmers.

And you won’t see snakes in the fruit and vegetable store. That’s because they are carnivores. Which means they eat meat, like small animals. For example: Rodents, Birds, Frogs and other reptiles. I hope you chew your food well.

Snakes can’t, so they have special jaws to swallow their food whole!

They also have a great amour of hard scales to protect them. They like to keep their amour shiny. So they shed their skin regularly.
Just like we change our clothes.

Hippos.

Large barrel shaped hippos,

with stubby legs, can be found in Africa.

Hippos bodies are mainly hairless, apart from some scratchy whiskers on their noses.

They are the 3rd largest land mammal.

Behind elephants and rhinos that is!

The name hippo, is short for hippopotamus, which means “River Horse”.

This is because, hippos love to spend lots of time wallowing in water.

Here’s one… keeping her head cool under the water.

Don’t forget to breath.

These hungry hippos are munching on some yummy river plants.

Munch Munch Munch

Hippos are herbivores.

That means they eat lots of plants, and graze on grass, when on land.

Wow, that was a big yawn.

Open wide Mr Hippo!

Hippos have huge mouths.

Look. We can see the impressive front incisor teeth.

Male use these to fight.

While hippos might look cuddly. They are actually very dangerous.

Did you know?

A male hippo is called a bull.

A female is called a cow.

A baby hippo is called a calf.

And… they can run faster than a human.

I didn’t expect that!
